The Great Texarkana Duck Paddle

The Great Texarkana Duck Paddle will enter an estimated 15,000 rubber ducks competing for prizes. During the event season, ducks can be adopted for a suggested donation of $5 each at Duck Central, CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System, from St. Michael associates, from Friends of the Foundation or at other sponsor locations. No one will want to adopt just one.  For every five ducks you adopt, you get one free! You don't have to be present to win, but the duck paddle is fun for people of all ages who can enjoy music, fun, food, children's activities and a 5-K Run.

The previous 19 races have raised over $1,300,000 to benefit CHRISTUS St. Michael and the health of our community. The funds have helped to accomplish such tasks as the building of the St. Michael Pediatric Wing, the purchase of a patient transport van, an occupational health mobile unit, a BAT System or Ultrasound system to locate and treat prostate cancer in conjunction with IMRT or Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy, a Stryker image-guided system, which uses infrared optics, unique tracking software and interactive displays to guide surgeons and their instruments through the delicate anatomy of the brain, a transport incubator, youth beds, Vein Finder for the Pediatrics Department and the CHRISTUS St. Michael Health and Fitness Center Pool Project.  The 2009 Paddle will benefit the CHRISTUS St. Michael Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Expansion.
