About Us

CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System Mission: To extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.
  • Established in 1916 as Michael Meagher Memorial Hospital and named after a civil engineer who left his entire estate to build a health care facility to serve all who needed care. In 1948, a new facility was completed and renamed St. Michael Hospital. St. Michael Health Care Center was completed in 1994 and is located at 2600 St. Michael Drive in Texarkana, Texas.

  • CHRISTUS St. Michael is owned and operated by CHRISTUS Health, a faith-based health and wellness ministry consisting of hospitals and long-term care facilities as well as dozens of other health services in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Utah and Mexico. Sponsored jointly by the Congregations of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in Houston, TX, and the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, CHRISTUS Health ranks as on e of the 10 largest Catholic health care systems n the country and employees more than 23,000 people. The system is taking a leadership role in the health care field furthering its mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ.

  • CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System and CHRISTUS St. Michael Rehabilitation Hospital combine a 312-bed acute-care hospital and a 50-bed CHRISTUS St. Michael Rehabilitation Hospital, the St. Michael Outpatient Rehabilitation Center, St. Michael Health and Fitness Center and two medical plazas.

  • CHRISTUS St. Michael’s central location allows it to serve residents of Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.

  • All monies raised for CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System will remain at CHRISTUS St. Michael.
